Product Highlight: DSM Nutrunners
DSM Messtechnik, or just DSM for short, is a family-owned German manufacturer that has engineered high-quality assembly equipment for over 40 years. If you’re looking for electric nutrunners or small electronic presses capable of precision insertion tasks, they have you covered.
DSM designs and manufactures everything in-house at their plant in southern Germany. That engineering pedigree means you’re getting precision equipment capable of excellent repeatability and reliability. Their products are commonly used whenever torque tightness, consistency, and precision assembly are required, including automotive, defense, appliance, and medical device applications.
In this blog, we’ll discuss their two primary nutrunner families: DS and DSH.
Two Nutrunner Families
DSM makes two families of EC nutrunners— the DS series and the DSH series. Both series have reduction gearing built into the housing, are compact and quiet, and feature electronically controlled servo motor and digital data transmission.
The EC motor in the nutrunner enables control over rotation distance and torque. The speed is continuously variable, and the motor is also reversible. Coupled with precise torque measurement, this means these nutrunners provide greater control over fastener tightness than pneumatic nutrunners can provide. What’s more, they don’t need a compressed air supply.
Here’s a look at the features and benefits of DS and DSH nutrunners.
DS Series
DS nutrunners are designed for integration into automated assembly equipment. All models in this series have an in-line configuration and are intended primarily for vertical mounting. The models in this series offer torque from 0.5 to 4 Nm (0.369 to 2.95 ft-lbs).
DS nutrunners can be fitted with a range of outputs to suit the needs of the equipment they’re going into and the design of the assembled product. Options include offset, stub, spring and self-start outputs, angled heads, and vacuum screw-retainers.
DSH Series
The DSH series are ergonomic handheld nutrunners that are easier to grip and hold. The “H” in the series names indicates “Handheld.” These nutrunners are available in both in-line and pistol grip configurations, the latter often being preferred for fasteners on a horizontal axis.
DSH nutrunners are available with torque outputs from 0.25 Nm to 60 Nm (0.184 to 44.25 ft-lbs). They also have configurable operating buttons, a headlight for application illumination, and a suspension clip. Options include a vacuum screw holder and various types of output.
Purchase Certified DSM Equipment From Encore Systems
DSM nutrunners are quality pieces of assembly equipment that are engineered for longevity as well as precision. However, because DSM is based in Germany, there is a barrier to purchase.
Encore Systems offers certified repaired DSM nutrunners at a fraction of the cost of buying new. These like-new nutrunners are backed by a warranty and can be delivered in far less time than waiting for shipment from Germany. We also provide ISO-certified repair and calibration services for all DSM models.
